The Inter-Nationals Intensive Career Summer School in Norwegian​

Course Overview

Norwegian language is a fundamental key to unlocking many opportunities in Norway. The Inter-Nationals Intensive Career Summer School in Norwegian is free and aims to develop your language, cultural and professional skills so that you can kickstart your professional career or start your business in Norway.

The summer school is divided into the job seekers and the entrepreneurs tracks, both with the end goal of helping you accelerate your career in Norway.

Employees and Job Seekers Track

In this track the emphasis is on improving your language, cultural awareness and job searching skills. This course is suited for those with some basic knowledge of Norwegian.

As a minimum you should have learnt the following by the end of the 6 weeks intensive course:

1. Norwegian language and grammar for job search and the workplace
2. How to adapt your cv and cover letter to the Norwegian market
3. How to ace your job interview in Norway (through role plays)
4. Basic knowledge of the working environment law in Norway
5. Social and cultural codes in the Norwegian workplace

Consultants and Entrepreneurs Track

In this track, the emphasis is on boosting your oral confidence to effectively market yourself and business in the Norwegian market. As such, we expect that you already have an intermediate knowledge of Norwegian at the beginning of the course.

As a minimum you should have learnt the following by the end of the 6 weeks intensive course:

1. Norwegian Language for business use
2. Governmental formalities including “23 offentlige ting” you need to know as well as how to find, use and relate to them.
3. Conducting market research in Norway
4. Promoting your personal and business brand in the Norwegian market
5. Data privacy regulations in Norway that every entrepreneur should know

Course Schedule

The course is intensive and will last for 6 weeks between June 29th and August 6th 2021. Participants are expected to achieve a minimum attendance of 75% to earn a course certificate.

All Weeks

• Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays
• Time: 09.00 – 13.00

Extra Sessions in weeks 2, 4 and 6

• Wednesdays: Extra Career and Business Clinic
• Time: 09.00 – 12.00

Who should sign up for the course?

• You want to get a professional job or start a business that requires Norwegian
• You are motivated to learn the Norwegian language and cultural codes
• If accepted into the programme, you are willing and able to commit to the intensive schedule for the 6 weeks duration
• You are self motivated to complete the home tasks before each new class
• You already have some basic knowledge of Norwegian language
• You are not afraid to make mistakes in class
